If the formation of a potentially explosive atmosphere is to be expected surrounding the equipment, ATEX-zoning is mandatory according to ATEX-work Directive’ 99/92/EC. To avoid leaks leading to explosive atmospheres, 'Enhanced Tight' solutions are viable according to EN 1127-1:2019.
The DeltaV-Seal is constructed such that it maintains enhanced tightness during its lifetime due to its design, and ensures performance against leakage. By installing the DeltaV-Seal, the user of the equipment can perform a risk assessment to demonstrate the absence of any releases, and eliminate the ATEX zone. These zones would otherwise require a pipeline to be re-routed around the area or the flange to be boxed in.

Extends equipment life
Through the use of a solid metal construction that is compatible with the material of the flange, galvanic corrosion detrimental to the flanges is completely eliminated. If a flange has to be opened due to planned maintenance, the DeltaV-Seal will release from its seating with ease without leaving any flange residue. The gasket does not have a filler material that degrades, enabling users to remove or inspect a flange without requiring any costly cleanings associated with kammprofile and spiral wound gaskets. This additionally eliminates any scraping from being performed on the flange face, further reducing the possibility of compromising the integrity of the flange.
The adaptive V-shaped ridges gently deform and adapt to the flange surface during installation. DeltaV-Seal seals with torque strengths as low as 17 Nm (35 % of required Equinor torque table for sheet gaskets). Additional EN 13555 leakage testing proved that after seating, the DeltaV-Seal showed a significantly lower level of leakage over competing gasket solutions. As a result, torque requirements are lower than competing gaskets, enabling the superior seal strength to be achieved without compromising the integrity of the flange or resulting in flange face deformation.
